Choir
The school choir (led by the Music Lead, Mrs R De Almeida) rehearses every week for an hour after school, all year round, and is free and open to all pupils. Attendance is between 45 – 55 pupils. The choir perform on average a concert per term in the community, often performing alongside professional musicians and opera singers, which helps build cultural capital. Every second year, the choir takes part in ‘Young Voices’, performing at the Sheffield Arena as part of a choir of thousands.
DJS Choir Recording
Our choir of 52 children went to the parish church to professionally record four songs composed by local singer-songwriters. It was a great honour for our choir to be asked to do this, and the composers were extremely impressed by the children’s singing and focus. The four Christmas songs the choir recorded are now available to listen to via our school website, so please have a listen and share with other family members – it is such a treat to have a permanent record of the children’s singing:

Performing with the Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir
Our school choir performed at a sold-out Christmas concert at the church of St. Mary and All Saints (aka the Crooked Spire) last Sunday afternoon. The choir were the special guests of the Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir, and the concert was a huge success, with the children and families enjoying the adult choir performances, and the children receiving many glowing comments in return.
