Welcome to our new Co-opted Governor (January 2025)
We would like to extend a warm welcome to John Plant who joined our Governing Board in January 2025.
Please read below a short biopic of John.
My connections with Dronfield Junior School are as a parent and grandparent. Both my daughters attended the school and currently my two grandsons are pupils at the school. I also have two granddaughters who attend Dronfield Infant School and hopefully will be moving to the Junior school in the future.
My professional experience is as an accountant with experience in both the public and private sectors; I have over 20 years experience of working in the education sector both in schools, academy trusts and at a local authority level. For the last 6 years of my career I worked as a self -employed financial consultant specialising in the education sector, supporting both maintained schools and academies.
My governance experience also spans more than 20 years having been a governor at both secondary and special schools and also as a member of Interim Executive Boards (IEB’s) at primary and secondary schools. I have a very good understanding of how schools operate both financially and educationally and feel my skills and experience will enable me to help:
- support the governing body in developing their strategic thinking and planning both financial and educational in order to achieve the long- term vision and ethos of the school.
- provide a supportive approach to holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils
- help and provide advice on overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
